Data Deletion Instructions

You can ask Merchant Buddy to delete your data at any time. This page describes how, including for data we receive through Instagram.
Fastest path — disconnect from the dashboard
If you are a Merchant Buddy customer, the quickest way to remove an Instagram account from our system is from your dashboard:
- Sign in at the Merchant Buddy dashboard.
- Open Settings → Channels.
- Find the connected Instagram account and click Disconnect.
Disconnecting immediately revokes the stored Instagram access token and stops further message delivery to or from that account.
Delete your entire Merchant Buddy account
To remove all data we hold for your organization:
- Email [email protected] from the address associated with your account.
- Include the subject line "Delete my Merchant Buddy account" and the name of your organization.
- We will confirm receipt within 5 business days and complete deletion within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain specific records.
If you are a customer who messaged a merchant
If a business you contacted through Instagram uses Merchant Buddy and you want your messages with that business deleted from our systems:
- Contact the merchant directly — they can delete the conversation from their dashboard.
- Or email us at [email protected] with the Instagram handle of the merchant you messaged and the approximate date range. We will forward the request and confirm once the deletion has been performed.
Revoke access from Instagram
You can also revoke Merchant Buddy's access to an Instagram account directly from Instagram itself:
- Open the Instagram mobile app and go to your profile.
- Tap Settings and activity → Apps and websites.
- Find Merchant Buddy in the list and tap Remove.
Once you revoke access this way, please also email us so we can purge any conversation history associated with your account.
What gets deleted
- Stored access tokens for the disconnected channel.
- Conversation history and attachments associated with that channel.
- Profile information (Instagram username, display name, account type) for the disconnected account.
- On full account deletion: organization profile, members, stored knowledge, and all conversation data.
